ASCO was founded in 1888 as a manufacturer of elevator, compressor, and generator controls. In 1910, the company invented a control device known as the solenoid valve. Additional products were introduced during the 1970s, including air-operated valves, manual reset valves, and pressure/temperature switches. In 1985, ASCO was acquired by Emerson, one of the world’s largest industrial corporations.
